Of course, you're still a -full- divine spellcaster, so it's not like you're seriously hampered by this. Not a chaotic evil outsider, you're just a divine caster. The appendix contains general information that's useful for the campaign, including two new prestige classes, a spellbook of sorts, two items of legacy, and a boatload of new monsters.Īs far as prestige classes go, if you want to wreck demons, the Demonwrecker is a damn good way to do it. I can't speak to the balance of the encounters without having run it, but at first glance, they appear generally not overpowering, and there's a decent variety of monsters, as well. Also presented are instructions for trimming the adventure down, resulting in two much shorter adventures, one for level 10, and one for level 12. The campaign/module, intended to take a party from levels 9-12, is really quite long, and VERY planar, starting on the prime and going to Sigil, Yggdrasil, the Demonweb, and a couple other notable places. That's a nice bit of page manipulation on the part of WotC, and much appreciated by overworked DMs. ![]() Further, where they -did- do two-page encounters, they engineered it so that the first page was even, and the second page odd, again letting you avoid flipping pages unnecessarily. Every single one is a set number of full pages, usually 1 or 2, to minimize flipping back and forth. More importantly, all that information is laid out in an easy to read format, and there is no sharing of pages. Then, immediately thereafter, are yellow-gold pages that detail all the combat maps, combat statistics for monsters, and all the other details that you need when the shit hits the fan. Within each chapter of the adventure, first you get a set of white pages, detailing dialogue, questions the PCs may ask, and the answers to them, city maps, places to go, things of that nature. Each encounter essentially has two separate entries. Inside, the table of contents is pretty brutally extensive, and the new adventure format is somewhat disorienting at first, but quickly becomes extremely useful. Incidentally, it also feels sorta velvety, much more smooth and grippy than the glossy cover used for, say, Magic Item Compendium. It's not glossy, and has a sort of velvety, evil-looking texture. The outer cover of the book is the -second- type of sturdy hardcover that WotC has started using, and it's a lot like the cover that AEG used on L5R 3e. What's more is that Lolth lives in the Abyss, and that is a doubleplusungood place to be. ![]() Except that they don't, necessarily, because drow are really, -really- powerful. Everybody loves a good drow-killing adventure. If you know more about D&D, you know that the Demonweb Pits mean one thing. An item description for an included legacy item actually includes a list of at least seven different encounters that involve spiders. You would largely be right, there are a LOT of spiders. Knowing nothing about D&D, you'd think this was an adventure about spiders.
